Photographing at dawn in Assam

Astrid photographing manipuri horses on the river banks in Assam, India, December 2010

International equestrian photographer Astrid Harrisson combines her passion for all things equine with a sensitive and perceptive approach to her photography.  Following a successful career in the world of art and design – an experience in itself that has inspired Astrid to approach her subject matter in a unique and artistic manner – Astrid’s love of horses led her to specialise in creating images of them.

Astrid has travelled extensively to all corners of the earth photographing horses within their individual, cultural niche and she brings enormous empathy for these cultures to her work. From the foothills of the Andes to the plains of America’s Wild West, the remote mountains of Mongolia and unspoilt deserts of India, Astrid has traversed the globe in a bid to experience and understand more about horses and the magnificent territories where they subsist. Astrid shares her discoveries through her sensitive photographic portrayals, some of which can be found in her forthcoming book The Majesty of the Horse.

Astrid focuses on producing large format pieces of art, which she exhibits throughout the year at various group exhibitions and events, and she prints limited edition runs of her work and sells privately to clients all around the world. Astrid is currently represented by galleries in Dubai and the UK, and it is inevitable that her work will be available to view in other locations around the world in due course.
